The Almost World Famous Holly Springs UMC Yard sale was held May 15-16 this year and was again a successful fund raising and fellowship event for the UMW. We love that we have people who have attended and supported us for many years.
On August 18th, 13 UMW members and Pastor Steve were given a tour of The Goshen Valley Boys Ranch. We learned a lot about what they do and were impressed with their dedicated and caring staff. We left with ideas and suggestions of how we could further support their mission.
On October 25th, the UMW Trunk or Treat Festival was a successful community outreach. Over 60 children attended with their families and they "visited" 9 decorated cars, where they played games and collected prizes and candy. Afterwards, they jumped in the bounce house, played in the playground, decorated pumpkins, and enjoyed a free hot dog dinner under the pavilion. Everyone had a great time in the beautiful Fall weather.
During the November 9th Sunday service, we held a special recognition of all our veterans. The names of the men and women who have served our country were listed by branch of service in a special bulletin insert. During the church service, the members of each of these branches came forward or stood when their "song" was played.
We want to thank each one for their sacrifice and service in the US Air Force, Marines, Navy, Army, Naval & Naval Air Reserve, Air Force National Guard, Army Air Corp, and Civilian Volunteers.
