As we remember the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, we reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness that took place on that day. We call these servants heroes because they showed the greater love that Jesus taught with His words and through living out His teaching by sacrificing His life for us.
When I look back and think of these men and women who thought of others above themselves, I quickly see that heroes don’t always look like heroes. They were ordinary looking people who did the extraordinary by living a life of sacrificial love.
During this message, we gather as a church full of heroes. What makes us heroes in light of the heroes we saw in action 25 years ago? I invite you to listen as we gain an understanding from the scripture of what makes a hero in the life of the church, God’s family. The title of the message is, “How Heroes are Made”. Our scripture focus is John 15:12-13 and Philippians 2:1-5.
