For we are masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He has planned for us long ago.”
(Ephesians 2:10)
It really is an  amazing Biblical truth, that the One who created the heavens and the earth has planned, long ago, to do good things in us and through us. In church speak, we call that God’s vision. God’s vision is all about what He wants you and me to be and what He desires to do in us and through us into the world.
I have heard it said that life is a journey and every journey has a destination. Everybody ends up somewhere in life. A few people end up somewhere on purpose. God,s desire is for us to end up somewhere on purpose, His purpose, and, again, that is what we call God’s vision for our lives.
It is tragic to go through life never knowing what  His vision is for our lives and for the life of the church. Helen Keller, born blind and deaf, was once asked by a reporter if there could be anything worse than being unable to see. She replied, “Yes, there is something worse, and that is to have sight but have no vision.”
It is based on this understanding that I feel led by God to bring four messages, beginning this Sunday, on understanding and embracing God’s vision for our lives and for the Holly Springs UMC’s worship and ministry. I look forward to being with you in worship this Sunday as we embark on this journey of discovery.
