Our Leaders and Staff

Rev. Steve Lyle

Rev. Steve Lyle

Our Pastor

Rev. Steven Lyle grew up in North Augusta, S.C. He felt the call to ministry while working for Campus Crusade for Christ as he earned his Psychology degree from Georgia Southern University. Pastor Steve went on to earn his Master in Divinity from The Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 1981. He served churches in Carrollton, Ellijay, and North Fayette and was large part of starting Trinity UMC in Cartersville. Pastor Steve retired in 2022 from a 39 year Career as an Elder of the United Methodist Church.  In early 2023, he responded to a call to be an interim Pastor of Holly Springs UMC and later that year, much to our joy, became our Appointed Pastor.

Steve is married to Donna Clayton Lyle, and they have 4 children and 5 grandchildren in their blended family. Pastor Steve is active in many Civic organizations in Cartersville, Georgia, where he and Donna make their home.

Debbie Gregory

Debbie Gregory

Our Choir Director/Pianist

Debbie Gregory had her first church piano experience at Campground UMC in Marietta, Georgia at age 12.  She has been the pianist at Holly Springs UMC since 2001 and she added the role of Choir Director in 2024. Debbie inspires our worship services with her beautiful preludes, leads and accompanies our choir and guest singers, and shares her musical gifts with the church as we raise our voices to praise God together.

Debbie attended the University of Georgia, Kennesaw College, and Georgia State University and taught 6th and 7th grade reading, social studies, and science in Cobb and Cherokee Counties for 35 years. Debbie is married to Joe Gregory, and they have a son Seth and a daughter Ansleigh.

Tommy Starnes

Tommy Starnes

Our Volunteer Audio/Visual Director and the AV department

Tommy and Barbara Starnes have been members of Holly Springs since 2000.  Tommy began helping with sound and projection and took over the position of Audio/Visual “Guy” a few years later.  Tommy inherited/accepted the responsibilities from an outgoing member and grew them over time to what it is today.  He built the control booth, learned how to operate a Sound Board, creates the visual presentations for all worship services, trains others for equipment operation and support, arranges for repairs and acquisition of equipment, oversees operation of projection equipment, computer hardware, software, files, and presentations. And he does all this with a smile and the assistance of his wife Barbara.  They also print the bulletins for all Church Services.  Tommy and Barbara live in Woodstock and have a son Brian and a daughter Madeline.

Our Lay Leaders – The Church Leadership Team and Committees

The primary governing body of a United Methodist congregation, the Leadership Team is made up of a chairperson, persons who represent the Committees and program ministries of the Church, and the Pastor. These leaders provide for the administration and visioning for the church.
